Living Life Alopecian Style!
Famous People with Alopecia
We are homemakers, artists, coaches and secretaries. Parents, children, brothers and sisters. We are everyday real people. Because we live in a society where we all feel we have to look or act like someone else, so many people wanted a "star" they could look up to who had alopecia so they could feel better being who they are. Look in the mirror - you are the star of your own life - how you choose to be is up to you.
Talk more openly about our alopecia - being able to validate our conditions by saying someone else has alopecia is a good thing, but don't rely on it for your own self worth - you are the star of your own daily life show!
Here are a few media personalities who have alopecia. Enjoy!

Neve Campbell
A little known fact but Neve Campbell did an interview once where she mentioned having had alopecia areata (I don't think she has any more symptoms). But she did mention she was a bit worried if it ever had to come down to wearing a wig or extensions. She said she just covered the spots over and continued her work.
Neve has been in such movies as "The Craft", "Paint Cans", "Drowning Mona", and recently won Favourite Horror Actress for her role in "Scream 3". She was also a popular actress in the "Party of Five" series.
DJ Snooze
I found out about this DJ from an article written about his having played a huge circuit party in Montreal a couple of years ago. He's a well-known DJ from France, having played in clubs from Portugal to Switzerland, New York and France. He has two major albums to his credit, with a handful of mixes and singles, and credits galore frm other mixing artists and DJs from around the world.
Telly Savalas
As surprised as I was when I got a link from Jim, of an article written in the Toronto Sun newspaper which stated this actor as having had alopecia (the article also naming Princess Caroline of Monaco) I always thought he was just a balding guy... Pretty cool.
Telly Savalas is most noted for his roles as "Kojak". A little known fact is this actor also released a small vinyl album, which received a lot of negative criticism from the press in the 70s, for no real reason.
Pier Lugi Collina
A great referree for soccer in Italy, Luigi was a really great surprise to come across in Heather's MSN group; someone mentioned there being a famous soccer player but it turns out he's a referree for the popular global sport. He makes an excellent role model and he gets amazng game coverage for alopecia.
David Duchovny
The star of the X-Files was in a UK TV Times article in 1998. "Scrutinising his reflection in a mirror, David Duchovny points to a patch of skin on his chin. "Look! There it is!" Though he may appear to be one of the most laid back actors on TV, David argues that inside he's a nervous wreck. "Here's my alopecia from stress," he says, indicating a spot where facial hair refuses to grow. The 40 year old star uses yoga and a vegetarian diet to help relieve stress, but adds, "I'm just one of those people who can never be totally happy. No matter how much I love my wife, there's still this tiny part of me that refuses to be completely happy."
